Coastal Postcard Set (set of 4)

$5.00

This postcard set high lights some of the lesser knows wild wonders of coastal Maine. We are familiar with lobsters and moose, but others call this rugged land home as well. Here is a look into a 4…

Sea lavender- a semi aquatic plant found in the tidal marshes where the sea meets the river. It blooms for a short period in late July, turning the marshes a dusty purple (it does not smell like lavender)

The Arctic Tern- a small nimble migratory bird that graces the long beaches and rocky islands. Their distinctive call sounds a lot like a squeaker toy to me.

The Shortnose Sturgeon- A 6 foot living fossil living right under our noses. This being has not changed for over 250 million years and yet is seldom seen. Living between sea and river, if you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse when they propel themselves like a torpedo from the water, landing with a gunshot slap.

The Atlantic Horseshoe Crab- Did you know they are more closely related to the spider than the crab? Another living fossil, horseshoe crabs have scuttled along the sea floor for millennium. Arriving, sometimes en mass, to beaches in spring and early summer to dig their little nest & lay up to 40,000 eggs.

This postcard set includes 4 postcards (one of each being)

Cards measure 5 1/2’’ by 4 1/4’’ (standard postcard)

Printed on thick card stock

Printed locally in Brunswick, ME
