Sturgeon are ancient.
200 million years they have swam in the waters of Earth. They are swimming fossils and a strange reminder of past life. There are many different types of sturgeon that call home to the waters around the world. Sadly because of extreme demand for the mother's roe or caviar, sturgeon populations have plummeted over the last century. Once extremely abundant on the East Coast of the United States and Great lakes, they are now ghosts in the water, still existing, but in unknown few numbers.
Atlantic Sturgeon can be massive, growing up to lengths of 14 feet, they live up to 70 years and have complex life cycles we still do not completely understand. They also are known (for reasons beyond us) for hurling themselves like a torpedo clean out of the water and splashing back down in a massive clap that can sound as loud as a gunshot. It is one of my favorite sounds.
This Sturgeon Sticker is 11 inches long and made of adhesive vinyl.
